NN Test 2nd Feb 2020 Flashcards
Revision for Physics Test
What do the particles in a solid look like?
The particles in a solid are one compact shape, all the particles are in rows and are always connected.
What do the particles in a liquid look like?
The particles in a liquid have no fixed shape, are always touching and have no fixed rows.
What do particles in a gas look like?
There is no fixed shape, the partiles are spread out nd not touching, an the particles are constantly moving.
What is a fluid?
Liquids and gases.
What is friction?
Two solids moving against each other with the particles inbetween the solids causing the moving solid to slow down.
What is drag?
The aerodynamic force that opposes an aircraft’s motion through the air.
What is air reistance?
A force caused by air acting on the opposite direction to an object moving through the air.
How do you reduce drag forces?
By reducing the surface area of the object or streamlining the object or by reducing the materials that reduce drag.
What is Compression?
The force is pressing in on the object.
What is tension?
The force is pulling either side of the object.
What is torsion?
The twisting of an object.
What is a linear line?
The line on a graph that is a straight line.
What is a non-linear line?
A line on a graph tha is not straight.
What is a directly proportional relationship?
When th line on a graph passes throug the orgin.
What is Hooke’s law?
When the extension of the spring is directly proportional to the force.
