Pressure Flashcards
What is gas pressure?
The particles of a gas colliding with the wall of the container they are in.
What happens when the particles collide with the container more often?
The gas pressure would be higher.
What happens when you heat the gas?
The particles move more quickly and collide with the container with a higher energy.
What happens when you compress the gas?
There would be the same amount of particles within a smaller volume so there are more collisions.
What happens when you increase the amount of particles?
There will be less room in the container so the particles would collide more often, increasing the gas pressure.
What is atmospheric pressure?
The pressure which the air is applying on you all the time.
What is stress in pressure?
The pressure which is applied on a solid.
How do you calculate pressure?
Force divided by area = pressure.
