Because more munition factories were being created, this meant that more women became employed in these munition factories
Employment opportunities created in medicine
It became more common for women to become employed as nurses, this would mean they would get very good pay
The war created a change in attitudes towards women’s role
People realised that women could carry out the same jobs as men which meant that women were seen as being able to be housewives but also workers
One factory in Bridgeton only employed war widows
The factory would hire women who had lost their husbands in war so they could have a pay and make money
