A

There were risks of explosions and fires from the unsafe materials being used to create weapons. Many of the chemicals were toxic. TNT used to turn people’s skin yellow: women working in these factories were nicknamed ‘canary girls’.

After the war- Many women did not want to go back to the same jobs that they had done before the war. women were forced back to many of their old jobs in the domestic service

women did not have many rights. They were not equal to men, they couldn’t event vote in elections.

A

During the war - women got used to going out alone at night or with other women since their husbands were not around to keep them company.
After the war-many women chose not to marry and lived a single life. They went out alone and swore, smoked and drank.

A

there were strict rules about how a women should dress, they wore long skirts, never trousers. They had to dress smartly and often wore big hats and corsets

A

During the war- It was not practical to wear skirts so they began to wear trousers and cut their hair shorter.
After the war - women continued to dress in trousers and shorter skirts. They were much more daring in what they wore and continued to keep their hair short.
