What did the Nazi’s not like and how did they deal with it?
The Nazis did not want any opposition in their state they dealt with this by a combination of methods which were terror and propaganda and censorship
Why were concentration camps initially created?
Concentration camps were initially established to detail political prisoners
What were concentration camps known for?
At first, the camps were severe rather than brutal they had become places where prisoners were tortured and murdered.
What did Gestapo agents do?
pretend to be rebels and visit people suspected of
being disloyal to the government, they would then start trying to trick them into incriminating themselves and their friends.
What was the SS and who was it led by?
The SS was known as the Schutz-Staffel. It was led by Heinrich Himmler.
What did the SS do?
Initially setup as Hitler’s personal bodyguard service, the SS was fanatically loyal to the Führer(leader)
What was the Gestapo?
The Gestapo were known as the state secret police and they had the authority to spy on German people, read their mail and tap their telephone calls to other Germans.
What did most blocks of houses have?
Block Warden, who could check up on the residents of the wars and repot unacceptable conditions and items as well as behaviour
What could the SS do if they wanted to?
The SS could search houses, confiscate property and send people to concentration camps without trials, which were known as murder and torture camps.
What did newspapers do for the Nazis?
Newspapers printed only stories that were favourable to the Nazis also newspaper editors were even told what the headlines should be so they met nazi approval.
What were some forms of propaganda?
Images and posters of Hitler were everywhere. His speeches were heard over loudspeakers in public places, Hitler was seen as the main propaganda figure and weapon to their country.
What did Joseph Goebbels do?
He used one sided propaganda information and censorship to stop anyone writing or broadcasting things the Nazis didn’t want the people to hear.
What did Hitler and Joseph do?
Goebbels took control of all the local radio stations.Cheap radio stations called ‘People’s Receivers’, Huge rallies were held and there were army parades, gymnastic displays, bands, choirs, firework displays, fly-pasts by the air force and speeches.
What did the Nazis see school as?
The Nazis saw schools as places to indoctrinate (brainwash) young people into believing in nazi ideology and plans
What did all teachers have to do?
All teachers had to join the Nazi Teachers’ Association.
