WEP
64-bit or 128 bit key size
found to be very vulnerable in 2001 , should no longer be used. Cryptographic vulnerabilities.
WPA
short term work around WEP, used RC4 cipher as a TKIP temoral key integrity protocol. TKIP has its own vulnerabilities.
WPA2
Replaced TKIP with CCMP , counter mode with cipher block chaining message authentication protocol. replaced RC4 with AES advanced encryption standard, WPA2 is the latest and most secure wireless encryption method.
