Printers Flashcards
The Laser Print Process :
Step 1. Processing , the print is processed in the printers memory, Step 2. Charging the drum is charged with a negative charge, Step 3. Exposing, the image is applied to the negatively charged drum with a laser. , Step 4. Developing, the toner is attracted to the drum in the areas with a charge, Step 5. Transferring the toner is transferred to the paper, Step 6. Fusing the toner is fused, heated and pressed to the paper. 7. Cleaning the printer is cleaned.

How does a laser printer work?
Uses heat and pressure to melt toner pellets onto a page
Characteristics of a laser printer?
High quality print, Many moving parts, Requires memory in the printer High voltage hot
what should you be careful of when serving a laser printer
Voltage and heat
Injet printer characteristics
prints little droplets of ink Expensive consumables in-expensive device High quality relatively quite Eventually fades. Print head clots easily although is replaced with the cartage. Prints in lines
How does the ink-jet printer print ?
in lines
Name the 2 types of ink-jet printer
Piezo electric and thermal bubble
Thermal printer
Applies heat to special paper
very inexpensive
almost silent
requires a specially coated paper that is sensitive to light and the image degrades rapidly.
