Wind Stroke- Zhong Feng Flashcards
Wind Stroke E & P: Pathology
SHI patterns
-LV Yang rising w/ fire and wind rising upwards
-LV and KD Yin Xu, yin unable to anchor and restrain the yang, causing internal movm’t of wind
-Heat-phlegm, wind-phlegm, or damp-phlegm disturbing the organs and the head
XU patterns
-Depleted channels leading to external wind lodging in the channels
-Qi Xu w/ blood stasis
Wind Stroke E & P: Etiology
External wind
Excessive emotional strain and upset
Over-indulging in rich, fatty food, excessive alcohol consumption
constitutional tendency toward Phlegm or LV Yang excess
advanced age
excessive sexual activity
Wind Stoke: Channel Stroke- Depleted Channels w/ external wind invasion
*early & middle stage of channel stroke w/ internal heat: DA QIN JIAO TANG
*yang qi xu w/ wind cold invading the channels: XIAO XU MING TANG (Minor extend life decoction)
wind-phlegm obstructing the facial channels: QIAN ZHENG SAN
Wind Stroke: Channel Stroke- LV and KD Yin Xu w/ Rising LV yang and wind TX AND FX
Sedate the LV, extinguish wind, nourish yin, and anchor yang
ZHEN GAN XI FENG TANG
for ascendant LV yang w/ internal movm’t of wind- TIAN MA GOU TENG YIN (TANG)
Wind Stroke: Organ Stroke: Closed Syndrome symptoms
sudden loss of consciousness, eyes may open, clenched hands, limbs have spasm or rigidity, wheezing, no sweating (pores are closed), retention of urine, constipation, stiff, deviated, greasy, slippery, sealing of qi within the body
Wind Stroke: Organ Stroke- Flaccid Collapse syndrome
Sudden loss of consciousness, closed, open mouth, relaxed hands, flaccid paralysis of limbs, snoring, shallow, copious persistent sweat, incontinence of urine and stools, flaccid pale tongue, thready, faint, barely there pulse, OUTWARD ESCAPE OF YANG QI
Closed syndrome- YANG closed Tx & Fx
