What was the restoration
King Charles 2nd is the new king.
Restoring the king.
He liked partying and entertaining. He was a people person and wouldnโt get along with parliament as they killed his father.
He helped people out in the great fire of London.
When he died his brother James 2nd became king.
Charles died from infections as the medicines werenโt good.

He married Mary who was his cousin. This makes William , James the 2nds nephew and now son in law. William of orange = William 3rd= Dutch = Protestant.
What religion was James 2nd
He became Roman Catholic with his son. He married his 2nd wife who was Catholic. Parliament now viewed them as heretics.
What religion was Mary
Protestant. Her mother and father were both Protestant but then her father remarried a Catholic and had a son who was Catholic. Mary stayed Protestant though.

Wanted William and Mary as they were both Protestant and royal.
Who became king and what happened?
William 3rd became king. James was angry but parliament wouldnโt let him be king as he was Catholic. James fled to France for help as France is Williams enemy.
What did the bill of rights do
Put parliament in charge of the country and not the king or queen. You must be Protestant to become king/queen after the bill of rights. William wanted to be king to use their army to fight France where James had went.

William led the grand alliance against Louis. The grand alliance united both Roman Catholics and Protestants against Louis.

He was happy to take part because he wanted to fight in the battle to win back his throne in England.

Louis was happy to see his enemy William, Stuck in ireland fighting a battle.

William was angry about having to Waste time fighting James rather than Louis.
