Cause

A
- Autosomal dominant, mutation of keratin production
- Multifocal
- Extensive thick, white folds of tissue, symmetrical
- velvety diffuse plaques in buccal mucosa
- No eye involvement

Oral Hairy Leukoplakia
App

Caused by

- White rough patch on lateral border of tongue
- Seen in immunocompromised (HIV common)
- Caused by Epstein Barr Virus

Lichen Planus
manifests on
demographic
2 types
A
- Manifests on skin or oral (multifocal)
- Middle aged women most often
- Skin: purple, polygonal, pruritic papules
- Reticular
- Wickhams striae- white lacey, doesnt rub off
- wax and wanes over months
- more common, asymptomatic
- Erosive
- Painful ulcerations all over mouth
- central erosion w/ erythema
- May see remnants of wickhams
- Tx topical corticosteroids

- white patches rub off leaving red base
