A
  • Most common development cyst
  • Most commonly seen with 3rd molars and max canines
  • Radio app
    • Must be with unerupted teeth
    • RL area around the crown of the tooth, attached at the CEJ
      • RL area must be > 2mm, otherwise its a normal follicle
    • Any size can be uniocular or multiocular
    • Can push teeth
    • Top diff dx: odontogenic keratocyst, unicystic ameloblastoma
  • Epithelium may transform to ameloblastoma, SCC, mucoepidermoid carcinoma

assoc

A
  • Common cyst with high recurrence rate
  • Can look like anything, mimics other cysts/tumors
    • uniocular or multiocular
    • Pericoronal, apical, or lateral position
    • Small or large
    • BUT only in odontogenic area
  • Associated with Gorlins Syndrome (nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome)

radio app 2

histo

A
  • Only cyst that may be mixed RL-RO (odontogenic tumors can also be mixed)
  • May also be totally RL
  • Has ghost cells histologically

2 kinds

A
  • Develops first 2 decades of life
  • RO area surrounded by RL rim, surrounded by thin RO line
