A

Wellbeing is a multifaceted concept and can be defined as the degree of satisfaction an individual experiences when their needs are met

What is the opposite to wellbeing?

A

Illbeing, the state of being unwell, unhealthy and/ or unhappy

-Can also be defined as a state in which your SPEECS (wellbeing factors) are not being met.

– Why might there be different understandings of wellbeing?

A

Perceptions of wellbeing differ greatly and are dynamic, meaning it can be influenced by individual characteristics and past experiences over the course of one’s lifespan.

E.g: Those with a strong inclination to focus on their emotional/physical health are likely to draw from these factors when considering wellbeing rather than adopting a holistic perspective.

A

Wellbeing is a multifaceted/ holistic concept and every aspect of one’s life can influence their state of wellbeing.

There are many factors that are intertwined and subsequently affect each other.

E.g:

A person with increased disposable income (economic factor) may be able to then use their money for opportunities of leisure and recreation, enhancing their social wellbeing.

A

An individuals wellbeing may exert a significant influence on group wellbeing as a whole whether it be positive or negative.

Envision, a sports team loses their “star player” before a grand final, this would impact the role of each player, which may negatively impact on the team’s confidence and opportunity to succeed; on the contrary, it may be considered a positive challenge for the team members to perform to the best of their abilities
