While all the needs are necessary for quality of life they have differing significances across the board. Individuals, families and communities will prioritise these needs depending on current circumstances in order to achieve optimal wellbeing

E.g:

Some people are more extroverted and require more social interaction, while others may be introverted and find solace in solitude.

Emotional needs can vary greatly in terms of their fulfillment. Individuals who lack emotional support or face challenging life circumstances may place a higher significance on these needs.

Age-
influences the types of resources an individual can access and also the types of resources that are available to them.

E.g: A person under the age of 16 cannot apply for a driver’s licence to legally drive a
car, and ∴ has limited access to transport

Only people aged over the age of 65 can access a pension

Gender-
Concepts of masculinity and femininity can influence the types of resources
people access

e.g: resources stereotyped as feminine are generally accessed more by women, i.e. nursing and
childcare education as jobs

alternatively women may be discouraged from applying for managerial or labouring jobs as they
are considered masculine

Culture:
Cultural values also affect access to resources

e.g: the living arrangements of some ethnic
groups may also increase available resources

Disability:
Individual with a disability may find it difficult to access particular resources

Accessing resources such as television, movies and other
forms of audio-visual media may be difficult for people with hearing
impairments.

Socioeconomic status:

people with a high SES often have access to a wider range of resources than people with
lower SES, due to their higher levels of income and education

People with low SES often lack the financial, social and educational supports to be able
to access resources
