Resources that are crucial for survival & to sustain life?
What are Wants?
Individuals desires that can help maintain individuals optimum wellbeing

What does each specific need involve?
Adequate standard of living
-Primary needs required by all people
Employment:
devotes time, exerting energy, receiving payment
Health- Holistic concept– persons perception of wellbeing (SPEECS)
Education:
Acquiring knowledge and skills
Safety & Security– Desire desire to feel protected and safe from threat
Sense of Identity:
An individuals idea of who they are
Describe each of the specific needs and compare the significance of each to different individuals
While all the needs are necessary for quality of life they have differing significances across the board. Individuals, families and communities will prioritise these needs depending on current circumstances in order to achieve optimal wellbeing
E.g:
Some people are more extroverted and require more social interaction, while others may be introverted and find solace in solitude.
Emotional needs can vary greatly in terms of their fulfillment. Individuals who lack emotional support or face challenging life circumstances may place a higher significance on these needs.
How can each specific need be satisfied?
Social Wellbeing:
- Can provide an environment in which social interaction and friendship can be fostered
-Presents opportunities for leisure, recreation and relaxation both with and independently/from of the
family
Physical Wellbeing:
-Adequate nourishment for growth, development and good health
-Adequate rest and sleep
-Economic Wellbeing:
- Increased Knowledge and Skills
-Job Security– access to flexible work patterns
Emotional:
-Receiving encouragement
● Promotion of good self-image and self-concept
● Security and stability within the family unit and social group
Cultural:
Identifying with and belonging to a cultural group
● Teaching and developing customs, beliefs, values and traditions of families and communities
Spiritual:
● Having a purpose in life
-Identifying right from wrong
- Critique Maslow’s hierarchy and debate its relevance and validity after considering contemporary views on human needs
Maslows hierarchy proposes an individual who does not meet their lower needs cannot meet their higher level needs.
However it has become a less relevant theory on a broad scale as needs are an interactive and dynamic system rather being structures and ordered.

Goal setting can help a student gain a clear sense of direction of what they would like to achieve academically and makes them more likey to achieve them, enhancing their emotional wellbeing. For example they could they can use the smart goal system to determine whether they can attain specific HSC exam scores, rank in a particular percentile, or secure a place in a preferred university program.
What is goal setting?
The act of setting targets or objectives to satisfy needs and wants
It directs an individuals activities & energies
Describe a range of resources and explain how they assist in satisfying specific needs
A non-human resources such as shelter can assist in the satisfaction of the need of adequate standard of living and safety and security
-As you will have the opportunity to feel safe and conformable in your own living space which can also provide you with an area to keep primary needs such as food.
Human resources can meet the needs of education and employment. By boosting your knowledge through education or life experiences, you gain the expertise needed for university admission and securing well-paying jobs, increasing your value to employers.

E.g: A child washes their parents car in exchange for a lift to school
Child gains safety and convenience from the car to ride to school Parent is able to save money and gain extra time and relaxation Thus, family wellbeing improves!

What is Resource Interchangeability?
Resource Interchangeability means we can swap out resources that we have enough of for resources that we don’t.
This allows us to then satisfy a large number of needs and wants.
