What is the process that allows cell division to progress to the M-phase? Flashcards
1
Q
What happens in G1 phase?
A
- For cells to divide and proliferate, cyclin D is first synthesised to activate Cdk4/6 in order for cells to pass the R-point
- Cyclin E levels increase and activates Cdk2
2
Q
What happens in S phase?
A
E-Cdk2 activates cyclin A-Cdk2 which is required for DNA replication in S-phase
3
Q
What happens in G2 phase?
A
Cyclin A-Cdk2 ensure Cyclin B-Cdk1 becomes active, and acts to allow cell to progress to M-phase
