What happens to vitals when... Flashcards
What is an expected temperature finding up to 48hrs after surgery?
mild temperature, <100.4
What does a temperature of >100.4 48hrs+ after surgery indicate?
infection (wound, urinary, respiratory)
What happens to vitals with fluid volume overload?
bounding pulse, increased BP
What happens to vitals with fluid volume deficit?
orthostatic hypotension, increased pulse, increased respiratory rate
What happens to vitals when the patient is hypernatremic?
orthostatic hypotension, tachycardia (same as FVD)
What happens to vitals when the patient is hyponatremic?
increased BP (same as FVE)
What happens to vitals when the patient is hemmorhaging?
increased HR and respirations
decreased BP
What happens to vitals when the patient has an acute hemolytic reaction?
increased HR, decreased BP, dyspnea
What happens to vitals when the patient has a severe allergic blood reaction?
decreased BP, dyspnea
What happens to vitals when the patient has a bacterial blood reaction?
fever and decreased BP, tachycardia, weak/thready pulse, dyspnea
What happens to vitals during a TACO?
dyspnea and increased vital signs
What happens to vital signs with polycythemia?
hypertension
