Explain the model of subjective wellbeing?
- Subjective wellbeing describes how individuals evaluate their lives to determine their level of wellbeing
- Wellbeing through a subjective lense as it relies on individual’s own experiences and evaluations
What are the 2 key components of dieners research?
- Life satisfaction
- Affective balance
What is life satisfaction?
- Describes how people make judgements of their fufilments within specific areas of their life (how satisfied they are with their life)
- Highly influenced by the domain closest to you (family and friends, as well as affective balance)
What is affective balance?
- Encoumpasses all moods, emotions and feelings that an individual has over a period of time
- Individuals experience a combination of positive and negative feelings, the ratio of these feelings will affect their subjective wellbeing

- Ability to make our own decisions using free will
- High: People who are independent and regulate their own behaviour
- Low: Concerned with expectations of others rely on others to make decisions
Explain environmental mastery with its high and low dimension.
- Feeling able to alter, change, or influence our own lives
- High: create or change environments to suit needs
- Low: Cannot manage everyday tasks, feel powerless to change our environment

- When someone feels they are able to continue to develop and experience new things
- High: Open to new experiences, sense or purpose and improvement
- Low: Sense of stagnation, may feel bored/uninterested in life
