What is an abdication?
When someone gives up the throne.
The Kaiser (king) abdicated in October 1918.
What were the four terms off the Treaty of Versailles?
LAND - Germany lost Alsace and Lorraine
ARMY - German Army was restricted to 100,000 men. No submarines, tanks or aeroplanes
MONEY - German had to pay reparations. Fixed at £6.6 billion in 1921
BLAME - Article 231 Germany had to accept full responsibility for the war.

The German government ran out of money and began printing more money.

Passive Resistance. This led to hyperinflation.

What was different between the Dawes Plan (1924) and the Young Plan (1929)?
Both allowed the reparations to be restructured so that Germany could afford them.
The Dawes Plan also gave Germany loans from America.
To what extent did Stresemann help Germany to recover?
Fewer coalition governments so German was more stable
Ended hyperinflation and stabilised the economy
Germany was more accepted in the international community due to treaties that were signed.
German economy was fatally linked to the US economy
Many Germans did not welcome democracy
Hindenburg (President after 1925) did not embrace many new ideas.

Germany guaranteed it’s western borders

It stated that armies would only be used for self-defence.
