Accountability:
Mechanisms for identifying responsible parties

Liability:
Permits individuals (and firms) to recover damages done to them
Five-step process for ethical analysis:
- Identify and clearly describe the facts
- Define the conflict or dilemma and identify the higher order values involved
- Identify the stakeholders
- Identify the options that you can reasonably take
- Identify the potential consequences of your options
Five Moral Dimensions of IS:
- Information rights and obligations
- Property rights and obligations
- Accountability and control
- System quality
- Quality of life
Intellectual property (IP):
Tangible and intangible products of the mind created by individuals or corporations
PIPEDA:
The law aims to protect individuals’ privacy rights while allowing organizations to collect, use, or disclose personal information for legitimate business purposes
CPPA:
Will be similar to the EU GDPR, focusing on digital privacy for individuals
Will give individual rights to request disposal and transfer of personal information
Special provisions for protection of data for children
PIDPTA:
Will resolve a key weakness of PIPEDA, in that the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
will have the power to make orders and impose significant penalties
AIDA:
Developed before the introduction of ChatGPT and the rapid increase in AI
interest
Will regulate the development and operation of AI systems in the private
sector
Will require a stronger level of regulation for high-impact AI
COPPA:
Protects the privacy of children under the age of 13 by regulating how websites, apps, and online services collect, use, and disclose their personal information
HIPAA:
Establishes standards for protecting sensitive health information, ensuring privacy and security in the healthcare industry
