what is a narrative/traditional literature review
critiques and summarises body of literature about a specific topic, and identifies any gaps within the research
what is a critical review
aims to demonstrate that the writer has extensively researched literature and evaluated quality.
Either results in a hypothesis or a model analysis approach which involves identifying contribution to embody existing to derive a new theory
what is a scoping review
To identify nature and extent of research (similar to a systematic literature review)
what is a critically appraised topic (CAT’s)
A short summary of evidence on topic of interest, usually focused around a clinical question
what is an integrative review
A review via systematic approach which uses a detailed search strategy to find evidence to answer a clinical question
what is a systematic review
comprehensive search strategies and rigorous research appraisal methods surrounding a clinical question.
Aim: summarise, appraise, communicate contradicting results
what is a meta analysis
aims for exhaustive researching synthesis approach which draws conclusions and detects patterns within research
What is a meta synthesis/ qualitative systematic
A method of comparing qualitative by identifying themes or constructs to transform individual findings into new conceptualisations
what is a state of the art review
address more current matters
no formal quality assessments
what is a rapid review
assessment of what is already known about a policy/practice issue which is exhausted by a time constraint
