Week 7 [Data Skills in Psychology Research] Flashcards
learn
Original/Primary Data Collection:
The process of gathering new, original data through methods like experiments, surveys, observations, or interviews, rather than using existing data.
Secondary Analysis
The analysis of data that was collected by someone else, often for a different purpose, in order to address a new research question.
Open data
Data that is freely available to anyone to use, modify, and share, typically provided with minimal restrictions to ensure transparency and reproducibility in research.
open code
Software code that is made publicly available, allowing others to view, modify, and contribute to it, promoting transparency and collaboration in data analysis.
Open Stimuli:
Experimental stimuli or materials (e.g., questionnaires, tasks, or media) that are freely available for others to use and replicate in research.
Literate Programming:
A programming paradigm that combines code and human-readable documentation, allowing researchers to write code that is easy to read and understand in the context of their research.
Data Repository
A centralized storage location for datasets, often accessible online, where researchers can share, archive, or access data for analysis and collaboration.
Team Science:
Collaborative research where teams of scientists with different expertise work together to tackle complex problems, often involving interdisciplinary approaches and large-scale data collection.
