Week 6 Flashcards
What is the difference between an activity and occupational analysis
Activity Analysis:
The general idea about the things individuals do and the way they typically do them in a given culture
Decontextualized approach, because it is an abstract idea of what the practitioner thinks typically occurs. It is not what any one particular person actually experiences.
Occupational Analysis:
The personal activities that individuals choose or need to engage in and the ways in which each individual actually experiences them
The specific details of the client’s occupations within a specific context
What is family centered care
an experience that happens when practitioners effectively and compassionately listen to the concerns, address the needs, and support the hopes of people and their families
What are the 4 assumptions about disability, illness, experiences and families
The disability belongs to the individual
There is only one perspective per family
Illness and disability generate only negative experiences
The professional is the expert
An analysis typically includes attention to:
Description of activity Tools, materials, and equipment Space demands Social demands Sequence, timing, patterns Required skills Required body structures/functions Safety hazards Adaptability to promote participation Grading - how to make it easier or harder
What is the difference between a role and an occupational role
Roles are shaped by the culture - social position, how they see themselves
Occupational roles are how an individual or group interpret the expectations to fit their own values and beliefs
What is the difference between an arena and a setting
Describe the places in which activities occur e.g. grocery store
Describe the actual experience and aspects of the arena the person attends e.g. local market where a mother goes down the baby aisle to get supplies for her daughter
What is the difference between an occupation and activity
Activity - making soup
Occupation - making your own soup in your own kitchen
