Precontemplation (Create Ambivalence)
no interest in working, perceived that working is not necessary
Contemplation (Explore Ambivalence)
thinking about finding employment, but unsure about moving forward.
Preparation (establish strategies)
preparing to find a job, intent on taking action
Action (Provide support)
person is actively making changes, employed
Maintenance (follow Up regularily)
person is consistently maintaining the changes that they have made
Termination (celebrate)
there is no longer a need to attend the task of maintaining the change
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
client-centered uses intrinsic motivation, explores and resolves ambivalence
FRAME (MI components)
feedback, responsibility, advice, menu of options, empathy and self-efficacy
Process of MI
develop empathy, identify discrepancies, avoid arguments, find factors to support self-efficacy
Harm Reduction
policy directed toward reducing or containing adverse health, economic and social consequences of drug use WITHOUT necessarily requiring abstinence or reduction
