strengths: - provides qualitative information about individuals personality - information can facilitate therapy Limitations: - scoring highly subjective - fails to produce consistent results - poor at predicting future behaviour

A
strengths:
- standardized and use established personality traits
- predict behaviour and employee fit (to some extent)
Weekensses:
- participants may ‘fake’ responses to look better (or worse)
- high number of items leads to loss of interest
- takers not always accurate in self-judgments
- no personality test, by itself, is likely to provide a definitive description of any given individual

A
- creating personality assessments that seem accurate is easy
- it can be unclear if an assessment is accurate
- faking - ppl may fake it to seem better than they are or worse than they are

how to prevent faking on a personality test
A
- correct for social desirability
- behavioural personality tests
- use forced choice response options
- ask for written elaboration
- include warnings that fakers can be caught

how to design assessements
A
- keep it simple
- avoid double-barrelled items (one answer for two questions)
- use neutral or unbiased language
- minimise the use of negative wording
- avoid repetitive responses
- use rating scales consistently
- likert scales (strongly disagree to strongly agree)
- minimise item and sirvey length
