Week 4 Workshop Flashcards
Identify what an anterior pelvic tilt would look like
Push bum out. Greater lumbar curve
Identify what a posterior pelvic tilt would look like
tuck bum in
Goniometer positioning for hip flexion
Supine
Fulcrum - Greater trochanter
Stationary – midline of iliac crest
Moving - Lateral epicondyle
Goniometer position for hip extension
Prone
Fulcrum - Greater trochanter
Stationary – midline of iliac crest
Moving - Lateral epicondyle
Goniometer positioning for hip abduction
Supine
Fulcrum – inline with ASIS
Stationary – inline with opp ASIS
Moving – anterior aspect of patella
PROM – stabilise opp hip, bring measured knee out. Can let the knee drop once at end range
Goniometer position for hip adduction
Supine IN MIDDLE OF BED
Opposite leg hanging over the bed to allow for greater ROM
Fulcrum – inline with ASIS
Stationary – inline with opp ASIS
Moving – anterior aspect of patella
Goniometer position for hip ER
Sitting on edge of bed. Pelvis in a neutral posture. No ant or post tilt. No compensations (shifting weight to one side). Move opp foot behind to allow for greater ROM
Fulcrum - anterior aspect of patella
Stationary – perpendicular with the floor
Moving – shaft of tibia
Goniometer position for IR
Sitting on edge of bed. Pelvis in a neutral posture. No ant or post tilt. No compensations
Fulcrum – anterior aspect of patella
Stationary – perpendicular with the floor
Moving – shaft of tibia
What is a FADDIR test used for
RULING OUT femoroacetabular impingement
What would a positive test for ant/post labral test look like?
Reproduce pain and clicking or grating.
How to perform ant/post labral test
Perform FADDIR test and then ‘close the gate’ then bring the knee into extension (ant labrum). Post labrum ‘open the gate’ then bring into ext.
What does a FABER test do
test for hip joint OA
Tests for gluteal tendinopathy
Adduction test RI
Greater trochanter palpation RO
Single leg stance (30secs) RI
What can the Thomas test return positive results for
Quad and hip flexor tightness
What would a positive Thomas test for hip flexor tightness look like
Physio able to fit fingers between the bed and pt leg
What would a positive Thomas test for quad tightness look like
Leg is (somewhat) straight.
What is FAI
Impingement of the femoracetabular joint. The femoral head struggles to move due to bony growth impeding movement
Hip ROM Flexion
110-120
Hip ROM Extension
10-15
Hip ROM Adduction
30
Hip ROM Abduction
30-50
Hip ROM IR
