Week 4 - Types Of Body Movements Flashcards
Flexion
Takes pace within the Sagittarius plane
Decreases the angle between the bones
Extension
Takes place in saggital plane
Increases the angle and straightens the joint
Flexion and extension occurs at what joints:
elbow, knee, interphalangeal joints
Adduction
Occurs in the coronal plane
Brings limb towards the body or across the midline
Abduction
Moves the limb laterally away from the midline of the body
Circumduction
Movement of body region in a circular manner , in which one end of the body region being moved stays relatively stationary which the other end describes a circle
Rotation
Occur within the vertebral column at a pivot joint or a ball and socket joint
At pivot joint 1 bone rotates in relation to another bone
Supination and pronation
Movements of the antebrachium at the proximal and distal radioulnar joints
Palm facing anteriorly = supinated
Palm facing posteriorly = pronated
Dorsiflexion
Lifting the dorsum of the foot, so the dorsum of the foot , moves towards the anterior leg
Plantar Flexion
Lifting the heel of the foot from the group or pointing the toes inferiorly is plantar Flexion
Inversion
Turning the foot to angle the plantar surface of the foot towards the midline
E version
Turns the plantar surface of the foot away from the midline
