Week 2 - Cardiovasular System Flashcards
Name the blood cell and it’s feature labelled by the top arrow
Top arrow: lymphocytes -
Round or oval (B lymphocytes are stimulated by viruses and bacteria and transformed into plasma cells, antibodies formed by plasma cells and neutralise the specific virus or bacterium. T-lymphocytes natural killer that recognises foreign cells in the human body and destroys them)
Name the blood cell and it’s feature indicated by the bottom arrow
Monocyte -
Macrophages of blood. When they transfer e the wall of capillaries and enter the adjacent connective tissue they become phagocytic macrophages
(Usually kidney shaped)
What type of blood cell is in the diagram? And what are its features?
Neutrophil
Most common leukocyte
When they enter loose connective tissue they become active phagocyte and ingest selective bacteria
What typed of blood cell is indicated in the diagram and what are its features?
Erythrocytes
Transport oxygen from the lungs to other tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs
Where is the heart located?
Pericardium sac forms a sac around the heart, such that the heart is contained within the pericardial cavity
