week 4-Pelvis and Hips Flashcards
list common views of hip
AP
list common views of pelvis
AP pelvis
AP sacrum
lateral sacrum
AP hip
why cant we see SI joint from AP
SI joint is seen from an angle
what do we alwyas need to include in an x-ray
Left/Right
e.g. right femur
what is a spot view
a view specific to a particular area. i.e. coccyx
name special views of hip and pelvis
AP coccyx
Lateral coccyx
Frog-leg
what is the slipped capital femoral epiphysis
a common hip pathology in pre-adolescents and adolescents.
It occurs when the femoral epiphysis is abnormally displaced posteriorly and inferiorly relative to the femoral head and neck.
what is a salter-harris fracture
fractures through a growth plate (physis) and are, therefore, specifically applied to bone fractures in children.
what is the normal values for femoral angle
min-120
max- 130
coxa vara value hip
less than 120
coxa valga value hip
more than 130
what is shentons line
an imaginary curved line drawn along the inferior border of the superior pubic ramus (superior border of the obturator foramen) and along the inferomedial border of the neck of femur
to judge whether hip dislocation or fracture is present
what is kleins line
a virtual line that can be drawn on an X-ray of an adolescent’s hip parallel to the anatomically upper edge of the femoral neck.
what is Protrusio Acetabuli Measurement
that the acetabular line projects medial to the ilioischial line by 3 mm or more in men and 6 mm or more in women.
(femoral head moves medially)
normal value of Symphysis Pubis Width
male- 6mm
female- 5mm
