Week 3.3.3: Intervention and Treatment in Prodromal and First Episode Psychosis Flashcards
Individuals at high risk for developing psychosis.
Clinical High Risk
The likelihood of developing the outcome within a specified time frame.
Transition Risk
The number of patients that need to be treated to prevent one case of the outcome.
Numbers Needed to Treat (NNT)
Refers to the time period between the onset of psychosis and the initiation of treatment.
Longer DUP is strongly correlated with worse outcomes after a first episode of psychosis
Duration of Untreated Psychosis (DUP)
What is the difference between prospective and retrospective approach?
Prospective Approach: Monitor and intervene as soon as deterioration is detected.
Retrospective Approach: Looking back at prodromal features after psychosis has developed.
Can reduce the need for hospital admissions and shorten the length of hospital stays
