- Identify the problem
- Analyze conditions that maintain the problem
- Develop/implement plans to change conditions that might remedy problem (EBP, RTI, MTSS)
- Evaluate effectiveness of plan (progress monitoring)
What are Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs)?
Emphasizes identification, dissemination, promotion, adoption of practices that have demonstrated research support
What is a Response-to-Intervention (RTI) model?
Process of providing EBP (or any intervention) aligned with student’s needs, then using student response data to make decisions about effectiveness of that intervention
What is a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Framework?
Integrates EBP and RTI within multilevel framework to address learning and social-behavioral needs of all students
Which student groups do the three tiers of MTSS target?
Tier 1: general population;
Tier 2: students at risk of development problems;
Tier 3: students exhibiting problems
