What are the four determinants of health
Biological determinants, health behaviours as a determinant, environmental determinants of health and social determinants.
Explain the social determinants.
Don’t exist alone, are all interconnected. Influenced by societies policies, structures and industries. Functions of the circumstances in which people live, work and grow and forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life. Responsible for health inequalities.
Difference in health disparities between other countries and Australia
Others have treaties concerning health. Some offer free health care (US and Canada). Australia has health services with different Indigenous nation boundaries. Differnet state budgets and health systems.
Explain social justice
Making sure that every Australian has choices about how they live, and the means to make those choices.
What can be done?
Constitutional recognition to move forward together/more socially justice, to feel historically and integrally part of nation. Will improve their self-esteem, wellbeing etc. Also national conversations.
Explain public health
Investigation and prevention for whole population and/or large significant, vulnerable, at risk groups.
