how is IQ calculated
Mental age/Actual Age x 100
destinguish between Army Beta and Alpha
Aplha required reading but Beta could be implemented in illiterate adults.

how does the objective differ from psych testing to assessment
testing = gauge ability assessment = answer refferal or assertain diagnosis
how does the process differ from psych testing to assessment
testing = administer and score in accordance to set rules
assessment = consider processes beyond the score of the test
how does the evaluator role differ from psych testing to assessment
testing = should have no influence Assessment = key for appropriate selection of tool, instruction and formulation of conclusions
how does the outcome differ from psych testing to assessment
testing = final score Assessment = aswer to referral.
what is the assessment process
obtain referral infomatio Conduct interveiw Psychometric testing Collect collateral info Formulation of presenting issues Diagnosis (if appropriate) treatment recommendations Feedback to client
What is a Norm Referenced Test?
compares groups that are the same age, culture and gender ect to generalise the findings to other people fiting the description
criterion –> sees where someone sits in compaison.
What is a criterion referenced test?
is a pass fail test in which someone must posses are certain amount of ability, there is no average it is just pass fail. E.g. getting you drivers license or gaining enough credit in a unit to pass it.
What are the 7 assumptions we make about tests and assessment
- Psychological traits and states exist
- psychological traits and states can be quantified and measured
- test related behaviour predicts non test related behaviour
- tests and other have strengths and weaknesses
- measurment contains error
- Testing can be fair and unbias
- Testting benefits society.
why do we use psychological tesing
classification Diagnosis Self knowledge Program Evaluation Research
differentiate between a Z and t score
z = mean of 0 SD of 1 t= mean of 50 SD of 10
What are the issues with norms?
Initial sample must be large enough to be adequality representative
Need to be updated regularly to accurately reflect the population
