  • take at bedtime to minimize side effects
  • discuss long term risks with patients
  • sould attempt to taper every 3-6months

Anticholinergics (diphenhydramine, muscarinic antagonist inhalers), medicatons that prolong the Qtc

Precaution: Prostate issues, parkinsons, dementia; CI: urinary retention, decreases GI motility, narrow angle glaucoma

  • caregivers of elderly patients should be instructed to water for changes in cognitive function
  • discuss signs and symptoms of anthicholiergic side effects such as decrease urination, sweating and constipation
