What exists on the female external genitalia?

What is the mons pubis?
a fatty eminence anterior to the pubic symphysis
it cushions the pubic symphisis and vulva during sexual intercourse
What is the labia majora?
A fold of skin which is thicker anteriorly, which provides protection to the vaginal and urethral openings
What is the split between the labia called?
The pudendal cleft
What are sebaceous glands?
secret sebum (sweat)
What are the comissures>
angles of the labia majora at the anterior and posterior edges
What is the labia minora?
Folds of fat free hairless skin which are enclosed in the pudendal cleft within the labia majora
What does the labia minora surround?
the vestibule
what does the labia minora contain? and what does it consist of?
connective tissue with erectile tissue
What is the clitoris?
An erectile organ where the labia minora meet anteriorly
consists of a root and body which are comprised of two crura
What does the clitorus become anteriorly
The corpora cavernosa
What is the litorus covered by?
ischiocavernosus muscle
What is the body of the clitorus formed by?
crura
What is the glans of the clitorus?
a small amount of erectile tissue caps the body of the clitorus
What is the bulb?
erectile tissue that extends from the bulbs of the vestibule to the glans
What is the bulb covered in?
bulbospongiosus muscle
What is the frenulum?
fold of mucous membrane attaching the clitorus to the labia minora
What is the vestibule?
It is the space/ cavity between the labia minora
What does the vestibule contain?
opening of the vagina
urethra
ducts of the lesser and greater vestibular glands
What is the hymen?
A thin fold of mucous membrane surrounding the vaginal orifice
