Week 10 Flashcards
What are the steps for controlled experiments?
First step: What is it that you want to evaluate? This is called the “dependent”
Second step: How are you going to measure the difference? These are the “independent” variables
Third step: Careful design of the experiment, so as that we avoid learning effects, the effects of different tasks, the effects of background knowledge etc. These are called “confounding” variables
Fourth step: “Within subjects” (each participant will participate in all conditions, e.g. will interact with the two website designs)
Fifth step: Analyse data using statistics
