-broad internal - narrow external
- narrow internal
what are some sources of distraction/ stress in sport
Spectators
Coaches

Competitors
Officials
Ambient Noise
Environmental Conditions

what is the drive theory
As arousal level increases, performance increases
what is inverted U hypothesis
Based on:
Individual (Zones of Optimal Functioning)
Task (Game/Environment Demands)
how do you improve concentration
Figuring out what to focus on and maintaining the correct attentional focus during performance is not easy.
Strategies that may be helpful in improving one’s ability to concentrate during competition:
Focus on controllables vs. uncontrollables
Simulation training
Distraction drills
Concentration cues
what has games based training been shown to improve
Increased power, agility, anaerobic capacity, aerobic power (VO2max) & skill (increased learning, decision making & tactical awareness)
what has games based training been shown to not improve
Muscular Strength & Endurance
Some considerations: not individualized (some players may not get as many benefits), may be a good tool used in conjunction with traditional conditioning training, but the optimal combination of each is unknown in the overall picture of the most effective fitness training program for athletes
