At what age are we able to express primary emotions?

How do we identify emotions in infants?
Facial expressions
What are the 9 steps in the sequence of emotional understanding?
Simple cause and effect:

Mentalistic:

Reflective:
- morality
- regulation

When do children gain an understanding of simple cause and effect in emotions?
3-5 years old
When do children gain a menalistic understanding of emotions?
5-7 years old
When do children gain a reflective understanding of emotions?
7-9 years old
What is recognition and at what age do children aquire it?
We are able to recognise emotions in facial expressions

What is reminder and at what age do children aquire it?
We understand that memories of the past can invoke emotions

What is external cue and at what age do children aquire it?
We understand how people feel in specific situations

What is belief and at what age do children aquire it?
We understand that children’s emotions are mediated by their beleifs - even if they are untrue

What is desire and at what age do children aquire it?
We understand that emotion is mediated by desire so 2 people may react differently to the same situation as they desire different things from it

We understand that external and internal states may not match and that people can hide their emotions

Our emotions relate to our morals so if we do something morally bad, we feel negative emotions
