What is quantitative research? (2)
Objective statistical data that can be easily quantified
-research focused on stat data of study results
What is qualitative research? (2)
Subjective detailed, belief-orientated data
-focuses on researching the person’s beliefs and opinions rather than statistical data
What is empiricism?
The idea that data has to be experienced i.e. Seeing the data
What is a theory?
A specific set of assumptions and principles about a broad phenomenon
What are hypotheses?
systematically test theory in various conditions to determine its utility
What are the stages of the data-theory cycle? (6)

What is replicability?
The ease of repeating s study with similar results
What is Occam’s razor?
Can the date fit into a simpler explanation
What is falsifiability?
The idea that s theory is Good because it has the capacity to be proven wrong
What is parsimony?
A principle that suggests That you should prefer the simplest possible explanation for a phenomenon
What is induction?
A general conclusion, principle or explanation derbies by reason from particular instances or observations
What is deduction?
The idea that you start with a theory or hypothesis and test it to then be able to evaluate it
What is epistemology?
The study of knowledge and the nature of it
