Week 1 Flashcards
Camper’s
the superficial fatty layer of fascia
Scarpa’s
the deep membranous layer of fascia
how does the rectus sheath attrach to the anterioir surface of the rectus abdominis?
tendinous intersections
where does the posterior wall of the rectus sheath end?
the arcuate line
inguinal ligament
the lower border of the external oblique aponeurosis that extends between the anterior
superior iliac spine and the pubic tubercle.
how is the inguinal canal formed
s formed by the arrangement of the inferior part of the anterolateral abdominal wall muscles on
each side of the body
structure of the inguinal canal
It has a floor and a roof, an anterior and a posterior wall. It also has superficial and deep rings
which transmit the spermatic cord in the male and the round ligament in the female.
where does the illioinguinal nerve leave the canal
at the superficial inguinal ring.
how does the illioinguinal nerve enter the canal?
In both male and female the ilioinguinal nerve passes through the inguinal canal which it enters laterally between the
muscles and not through the deep inguinal ring.
a peritoneal organ
one enclosed in visceral peritoneum
a retroperitoneal organ
one covered by parietal peritoneum on its anterior surface only
Muscles of mastication
the masseter, temporalis, lateral pterygoid and medial pterygoid muscles
the buccinator
an accessory muscle of mastication
, branches of the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve
the inferior alveolar & lingual nerves
the main motor supply to the tongue
hypoglossal nerve
