Weather Radar, TCAS & EGPWS Flashcards
EGPWS
Terrain Indications
Dotted Red
More than 2000ft above airplane’s current altitude
EGPWS
Terrain Indications
Dotted Amber
Terrain 500ft (250ft with gear down) below to 2000ft above the airplane’s current altitude
EGPWS
Terrain Indications
Dotted Green
terrain 2000ft below to 500ft (250ft with gear down) below the airplane’s current altitude
EGPWS

Dotted Magenta
No terrain data available
EGPWS
Terrain Indications
Solid Red
Look-ahead terrain warning active
EGPWS
Terrain Indications
Solid Amber
Look-ahead terrain caution active
WEATHER RADAR
Turbulence mode description/range
Shows up as magenta when flow of preciptiation is ≥5mps away from radar antenna.
Limited to 40nm range
WEATHER RADAR
Predictive windshear alerts active
Below 1,200ft RA
WEATHER RADAR
scans for windshear when
Thrust levers set for takeoff (even if engine off or IRS not aligned)
in flight below 2,300ft RA (predictive warnings below 1,200ft RA)
WEATHER RADAR
Predictive Windshear Inhibits
new predictive windshear caution alerts inhibited between 80kts and 400ft RA,
new warning alerts between 100kts and 50ft RA
GPWS
Bank Angle Alert activated
provides aural alert BANK ANGLE, BANK ANGLE when roll angle exceeds 35 degrees, 40 degrees and 45 degrees. Once sounded, the alert is silent for that bank angle until the system is reset by decreasing bank angle to 30 degrees or less.
TCAS
When are INCREASE DESCENT RAs inhibited?
TCAS
Below 1,500ft RA
TCAS
When are DESCEND RAs inhibited?
TCAS
Below 1,100 RA
TCAS
When are TCAS voice annunciations inhibited?
TCAS
Below 500ft RA
TCAS
When does traffic appear as proximate traffic?
TCAS
Within 6nm and 1200ft vertically
