Coriolis effect
The rotation of the earth causes objects in the northern hemisphere to deflect to the right while objects in the Southern Hemisphere to deflect to the left
Jet stream
A band of very fast moving wind caused by differences in temperatures
Trade winds
Winds that blow toward the equator
Polar easterlies
Winds that are found near the poles
Doldrums
A spot near the equator where their is few winds
Pedaling winds
Winds that blow away from the equator
Prevailing westerlies
Winds that blow away from the equator
El Nino
Band of warm ocean temp that develop off the coast of South America
La Nina
Band of cold ocean temp that develop off the coast of South America
Gulf stream
Warm water from the gulf of Mexico that flows toward the U.S coast
Convection current
Winds that blow close to the equator
Sea breeze
Wind that blows from the sea to the land, happens at day time
Land breeze
Wind that blows from the land to the sea, happens at night time
