Ecosystems Flashcards
Biomes
Biomes are regions with similar climate animals and plants
Tundra
Covers one fifth of the world
coldest biome
temp ranges to -50 degrees
Animals that live there adapt to the cold
Polar bears, seals & Arctic foxes live there
Grasslands
Weather is hot and cold
grass is most important plant
animals living in grasslands are usually herbivore, like gophers
Taiga
Largest biome on earth
long cold winters
short mild wet summers
most common plant is the cone baring tree
Animals have thick fur to survive the cold

Tropical rainforest
Close to equator
Hot and wet
temps range 70f to 85f
animals adapt to their habitat
Deciduous forest
Temperate
Has color changing leaves
It has four seasons
And it is the biome we live in
Adaptations
allows a species to survive & reproduce in its environment
Ecosystems
an area in which living and non living things interact
Environment
All the biotic and abiotic factors that surround an organism
Community
Organisms that live together in an ecosystem make up a community
Niche
A role that ever species plays in its community (Job)
Biotic
Living
Abiotic
Nonliving
Spices
All members of a population are members of the same
