Q

How do we derive alternate minimums?

A

The 1 Navaid, 2 Navaid Rule:
-1 Navaid: Add 400 (to rounded up MDA/DA) and 1SM to CAT 1 Mins
-2 Navaid: Add 200 (to rounded up MDA/DA) and 1/2SM to CAT 1 Mins

Q

What is the Marginal Rule?

A

Destination and first alternate are considered marginal when:
(At the destination the ceiling equals the published minimums

the visibility equals published minimums)

AND

(The ceiling at the alternat equals the derived minimums
“OR”
the visibility equals the derived minimums)

A

Less than 1,600 RVR

31
Q

As a high time FO what is the min RVR we can perform the TO?

A

4000RVR

32
Q

How do we determine RVR for a specific runway?

A

Airport 10-9A Chart

33
Q

Once you are diverting to an alternate, what minimums do you use to decide if you can commence the approach?

A

Published minimums

34
Q

If you are dispatched under Exemption 17347 what needs to be on the release?

A

-2 Alternates
-“Flight released under Exemption 17347

35
Q

When must we setup for and brief a CAT II Approach?

A

-When visibility is anticipated at the FAP is 3/4SM or RVR 4000 or less
-The crew is capable of CAT II
-Aircraft is capable of CAT II
-CAT II is available for the runway in use

36
Q

Where do we find a reference of how to setup and brief a CAT II approach?

A

FRED

37
Q

What are the Destination MAIN BODY WX Forecast requirements?

A

Visibility must be Equal to the landing minimums

38
Q

What are the Destination Conditional Statements WX requirements?

A

Visibility must not be less than 1/2 required for the approach

39
Q

What are the 17347 First Alternate Main body WX requirements?

A

Must meet the Derived Alternate mins

40
Q

What are the 17347 First Alternate Conditional Statement WX requirements?

A

Must not be less than 1/2 required visibility and ceiling

41
Q

What are the 17347 Second Alternate Main Body WX requirements?

A

Must meet derived Alternate mins

42
Q

What are the Second Alternate Conditional Statement WX requirements?

A

Must meet derived alternate criteria

43
Q

What is MFPTW?

A

Max Flight Plan Takeoff Weight. This is max TO weight for which the flight plan is valid when considering all flight planning limits except Max RWY TO weight. These limits include structural MTOW and the MLDW + planned fuel burn

44
Q

Can we takeoff over MFPTW?

A

No. It is derived by structural weight, ldg weight, or other restrictions

45
Q

Can you leave the gate if you are over MFPTW?

A

Yes. Provided you don’t exceed your taxi weight, you can burn some tanker fuel prior to TO

46
Q

When is a runway considered wet?

A

When it appears reflective

47
Q

What is the PMRTW?

A

Planned Max Runway Takeoff Weight. Max runway performance takeoff weight at temp and pressure altitude. Subject to MEL, CDL, weight penalties, and Anti-ice configuration

48
Q

What is PQNH?

A

Planned altimeter setting

49
Q

How does PQNH affect the TLR?

A

TLR is valid as long as trhe actual QNH is no less than 0.10 below the PQNH listed

50
Q

When can we commence a turn after takeoff?

A

50’ if briefed prior to takeoff. 400 feet in visual conditions, or as depicted on the Departure plate. 1,000’ in IMC

51
Q

If a Complex Special Engine Failure procedure is required, where do we find it?

A

PSA Station Bulletins

52
Q

Where do we find Actual Landing Distances when in flight?

A

In the rear of the QRH

53
Q

If we are doing a full rated T/O and the TLR says N1 86.3%, but on ED1 the N1 is 85.7% what do we do?

A

Nothing. We can takeoff as long as it is within +/- 1% of TLR

54
Q

What is the difference between Actual Landing Distance and the Operational Landing Distance?

A

Actual is the minimum runway needed to stop using maximum effort. Operational is minimum runway needed using normal pilot technique

55
Q

When do we use Actual Landing Distance?

A

When directed by the QRH

56
Q

Do we take a penalty when landing with a tailwind?

A

Yes. Must use full 10 knot tailwind data from the TLR

57
Q

What does BLEEDS OPEN mean?

A

Engines supplying bleed air during TO

58
Q

Where can we find contamination level numbers?

A

FRED or POH 9.10

59
Q

On the TLRs listed EFP, when can we start that turn?

A

400’ in VMC, 1,000’ in IMC

60
Q

Does the V1 calculation take into account the use of reverse thrust?

A

No

61
Q

What do the symbols (D), (M), (O), and (M/FC) mean?

A

(D) - Dispatch specific procedures
(M) - Maintenance specific procedures
(O) - Operations specific procedures
(M/FC) Maintenance specific procedures that can be accomplished by a qualified flight crew member

62
Q

If a system failures occurs on the ground and a system reset procedure is available, where do we find the procedure?

A
