PM Duties upon calling Rejected Takeoff

A

Calls:
-Spoilers
-2 Reverse (or 1)
-90 knots
-60 knots

After 60 kt call:
-Call ATC:

Q

Steep Turn setup

A

Brief the PF to roll the heading bug 180 degrees during each turn and call 15 degrees prior to roll out each way

-Stabilize at 250 kts
-Increase N1 roughly 3%
-SMOOTHLY roll to 45deg bank
-As bank increases raise pitch to 3 degrees
-While rolling out lower pitch back to 1-2 degrees
-Reduce thrust 3% after completion

Stall Recovery

A

-Press TOGA button
-Throttles to Max
-Spoilers up
-“Set Max Power Spoilers Stowed”
-Pitch Attitude - Lower towards horizon to recover speed/airflow
-Roll - Wings level
-Once airspeed is regained, ride the green line back up
-Once positive rate is achieved (if PM does not call it, call it yourself):
1. “Flaps 8” (if extended)
2. “Gear up”
3. “Speed Mode”
4. “Heading SYNC/Heading Mode”
5. “Autopilot on”
IF BELOW 1,000’ when stall occurs:
PM calls 1,000’
-Speed Bug to 200kts
-At Vt-10 “Flaps up, After TO Checklist”
-Thrust levers - as needed to maintain airspeed/altitude

Q

Holding Speed Considerations

A

If holding below 6000 confirm Vref+30 holding speed

The calculated HOLD speed retrieved from ACARS is Vmd. This speed gives the maximum endurance. ACARS holding
speeds are based on a maximum of 20 degrees bank. A minimum speed of flaps 0 + 30 knots is recommended

This speed is frequently over 200kts
Max holding speed below 6000 is 200kts
We must either get clearance to hold over 200kts or hold with flaps 8

17
Q

What can’t a low time FO do?

A

Takeoffs (through cleanup) and approaches (from 3000 AGL & below) when Runway:
- is contaminated
- braking action less than “Good”
- crosswind component >15 kts
- RVR is 4000 or less
- Operating at airport with 3/4 SM or less
- Operating at Special Qual Airport
- Any reported windshear
- Other circumstances as determined by Captain as non-normal

18
Q

Crosswind TO Considerations

A

Continuous ignition
Aileron into wind
Rudder opposite wind

19
Q

Minimum Speed for Maneuvering after takeoff
