Winds are measured in speed and direction

A

Wind speed is measured in nautical miles per hour called Knots
Wind direction is the direction from which the wind is blowing. When direction is normally reported with reference to true North and is expressed to the nearest 10th° around a compass.

Visibility

A

Visibility is a measure of the distance at which an object or light can be seen. Generally measured in statute miles. One statue mile equals 5280feet.

Sky condition

A

Sky condition is based on the amount of sky core. Cloud bases are given as above ground level AGL. Anything described as overcast or broken constitutes a cloud ceiling.

Temperature and dewpoint

A

Temperature and dewpoint are given in degrees Celsius. The higher the temperature, the poor performance that airplane engine will have. The closer the temperature and dewpoint, the greater the chance for Lopez abilities and fog to exist.

Altimeter

A

The altimeter setting will tell you the current atmospheric pressure. Standard atmospheric pressure is 29.92 inches of mercury. Anything above 29.92 inches is generally described as high pressure. Anything below 29.92 inches is described as low pressure.

Visual meteorological conditions VMC

A

Visual meteorological conditions are defined as having both a cloud ceiling higher than 3000 feet AGL. Disability greater than five statue miles. As a student pilot you would generally want to fly in whether that is equal to or greater than BMC. When is less than 15 knots
