Learning The Airplane Flashcards
Main parts of the airplane
Fuselage, Wings, power plant, tail also called Empenage, landing gear
The vertical stabilizer does what?
The horizontal stabilizer does what?
The watercolor stabilizer prevents the aircraft noise from drifting left or right.
The horizontal stabilizer prevents the aircraft noise from drifting up or down.
Which wheels have the brakes?
The nose wheel does not have brakes but the other two wheels attached to the fuselage have the brakes.
Name the control surfaces of the airplane
Aileron, rudder, elevator
Components needed to calculate weight and balance
BE basic empty weight front passenger Rear passenger weight Fuel weight Bag weight
Weight and balance calculations
Weight x arm = moment
Calculate the total weight
Calculate the total moment of all the components
Graph to see if total weight and total moment line up in the allowable part of the graph.
What are the three types of weather briefing’s
Outlook if wanting info >6 hours
Standard weather briefing for comprehensive briefing
Update weather briefing
To obtain the briefings either call 1800 wx brief
Or use DUATS
Airplane engine
The airplane engine is air cold, unlike a car engine which is liquid cooled. The engine also powers accessories including the alternator and the magnetos.
Alternator
The alternator power is the electrical components and keeps the battery charged.
Magnetos
Magnetos provide independent electrical power for the ignition system.
Landing gears
The landing gear of Cessna Skyhawk consist of three wheels in a tricycle design. Two main wheels attached to the flashlight and a nose wheel in the front under the engine. Did you mean gear have a break attached to each wheel and I designed to support the full weight of the airplane.
The nose gear
Supports the nose and the engine. How to steer the airplane on the ground. It’s typically lighter and smaller than the main gear. Does not have a break attached.
The teal or empennage
The deal has fixed and more about services. The vertical portions of the teal include the vertical stabilizer which is a fixed non-movable surface that stabilizes the airplane and keeps the doors from drifting left and right. The runners are the movable surface that moves the noise off the airplane left or right and he’s used to help make smooth coordinated turns.
The horizontal portions of the tail
This includes the horizontal stabilizer which is the fixed non-movable surface. It stabilizes the airplane and keeps the noise from drifting up and down.
Elevator this is the mobile service that moves the nose of the airplane up and down and is used to control the airplane pitch the up and down movement of the nose.
What are the three primary flight controls
Elevator, Ruder,ailerons
