Q

What are longitudinal waves?

A

waves in which the direction of vibration of the particle is parallel to the direction in which the waves travels

e.g. sound and seismic

rarefaction and compression occurs

Q

What is the difference between plane-polarised and unpolarised?

A

transverse waves are plane polarised if the vibrations stay in one plane only.

IF the vibrations change from one plane to another, the waves are unpolarised

longitudinal waves cannot be polarised
