Quarks and Leptons Flashcards
1
Q
What is teh difference between hadrons and leptons?
A
- leptons
- interact through weak interaction, gravitationsal interaction
- and through electromagnetic interaction (if charged)
- do not interact through strong interaction
- hardons
- can interact through all 4 fundamental interactions
- interact through strong interaction
- and the electro magnetic interaction if charged
- tend to interact through weaj ubteractuib
2
Q
What is the exception in hadrons?
A
- proton is the only stable hadron
- does not tend to interact through the weak interaction
3
Q
What is the equation for the total energy of products?
A
- rest energy + kinetic energy
4
Q
What are the two groups of hardons?
A
- baryons
- protons and all other hadrons that decay into protons either directly or indirectly
- 3 quarks
- mesons
- hadrons that do not include protons and their decay products
- kaons and pions are not hadrons
5
Q
What are hadrons composed of?
A
- smaller particles called quarks and antiquarks
