Watson And Rayner Evaluation - Alternative Evidence Flashcards
1
Q
How do phobias act in real life compared to how Watson suggest?
A
If phobias were learnt from a negative experience with a particular stimuli, then this study suggests that an absence of further negative experience would lead to the phobia eventually leaving.
However, in real life this does not happen. Phobias persist for many years, even without any further negative experiences.
2
Q
What is biological preparedness?
A
We are scared to things because of the EEA. E.g. snakes because of them being poisonous so our ancestors ran away from them and survived.
3
Q
What did Dinardo say in 1988?
A
Some people have traumatic experiences but are not scared of things.
