Backwater Valve
Prevents reverse flow in a drainage system
Cleanout
A fitting with a removable plug that provides access to the inside of the pipe for inspection and cleaning.
Closet Bend
Fitting used for transitioning from the closet flange to a horizontal trap arm.
Closet Flange
An adapter flange used for mounting a water closet.
DFU (Drainage Fixture Units)
An arbitrary unit of measure assigned to a plumbing fixture to determine waste water load.
Trap Arm
The portion of a fixture drain between a trap and the vent.
Tailpiece
Pipe or tubing that connects the outlet of a plumbing fixture to a trap.
P-Trap
The P-shaped fitting designed to provide a liquid seal that will prevent the back passage of air
Riser
Vertical pipe in a water distribution system and also waste and vent piping
Sand Interceptor
A device used to separate and retain sand and sediment from stormwater.
Stack
The vertical main/riser extending one or more stories in a DWV system
Sweep
A long radius elbow used for waste and storm piping.
Wye Branch Fitting
A 45 degree branch connection
Water Closet Carrier
In wall device which wall hung water closets mount above the ground.
Invert Elevation
The elevation of the bottom (flow line) of a pipe.
