Warnings and Caution Systems Flashcards
When the test switch is selected to the advisory position on the overhead panel, which lights are being tested?
Fire Lights, Ice Protection Lights, Landing Gear Lights and all Advisory Lights
When the test switch is selected to the caution position on the overhead panel, which lights are being tested?
All warning and caution lights; APU Panel
When a warning light comes on, what state does it come on in?
Flashing
What is the only Caution that is not associated to a master caution?
Fuelling On
What is the importance of resetting a master warning/caution indicator?
To arm the system for a fault in a different system
What stall protection systems are provided for the Q300?
Stick Shaker, Stick Pusher, Fast/Slow Pointer
When will the stick shaker activate?
When a stall warning computer detects an AoA vane has exceeded its predetermined value.
Will the stick shaker operate if #2 stall warning computer fails?
Yes, from the left AoA vane and warning Computer 1
Will the stick pusher operate if #1 stall warning computer fails?
No, requires both computers to be operational
What are the conditions that will cause a take-off configuration warning?
When the aircraft is on the ground and one or both power levers advanced above 50% and at least one of the following conditions exist:
- ECU rating selector not on TOP.
- Elevator trim outside of the take-off range.
- Parking Brake lever selected to park.
- One or both condition levers not at Max.
- Flaps extended more than 15 degrees or less than 5 degrees.
Can the take-off warning horn be silenced if flaps are less than 5°?
Yes, with the T/O FLAP switch (located on pilot’s side console) selected from NORM to 0°.
What conditions will activate the Landing Gear Warning horn? 3 sets of conditions. Which one can be silenced and How?
- If any landing gear is not down and locked
- Flaps selected between 15 and 35
- Power levers below 50% torque
- Auto-feather not selected
OR
- Any landing gear not down and locked
- both power levers at or near flight idle
- Airspeed below 130 knots
OR
- Any landing gear not down and locked
- One power lever at or near flight idle and other advanced
- Airspeed below 130 knots
3rd set of conditions can be muted with HORN mute switch next to Gear lever
INCR REF SPEED indicators are not illuminated when:
- INCR REF SPEED switch is selected OFF and the PROPELLOR DE-ICE switch is OFF
- PROPELLOR DE-ICE is selected ON and the radio altimeter is indicating an altitude less than 400ft.
INCR REF SPEED indicators are illuminated and flashing when:
- INCR REF SPEED switch is selected to OFF
- PROPELLER DE-ICE is selected ON
- Radio altimeter is valid and indicates an altitude greater than 400ft for more than 15 seconds
INCR REF SPEED indicatros are illuminated but not flashing when:
INCR REF SPEED switch is selected to INCR REF SPEED
What should you do if Alpha Vanes are stuck?
Apply heat to the vanes, do not apply external pressure
When is stall warning not provided?
- When the aircraft is on the ground (except tests)
- Both #1 STALL SYST FAIL and #2 STALL SYST FAIL caution lights illuminate
Conditions for stick pusher to be activated:
The No. 1 and No. 2 computer must both agree to push before the Stick Pusher can be activated AND:
- # 1 STALL SYST FAIL, #2 STALL SYST FAIL and PUSHER SYST FAIL caution lights are OFF
- Aircraft altitude is greater than 400ft AGL
- Airspeed is less than 200kt EAS + or - 4 kt
- Stick shakers have been activated by both systems
Stick Pusher Shut Off switch light is illuminated if:
If excessive pressure accumulates within the actuator without a signal in the SW/SP computer
Consequence of pushing the STICK PUSHER SHUT OFF switch light:
Depressurieses the actuator, illuminating the PUSHER SYST FAIL caution light.
What is the PUSHER SYST FAIL caution light caused by?
The pusher system failing or loss of nitrogen pressure.
Stall Warning Test is selected to TEST 1 or 2:
Must be held for 5 seconds for test to begin:
- Illuminates the #1 STALLSYST FAIL and PUSHER SYST FAIL caution lights
- No. 1 Stick Shaker activates
- FAST/SLOW indicator on the No. 1 ADI moves from FAST to SLOW
- Radio altimeter display on No. 1 ADI increases then scrolls downward to 0
How can the overspeed horn be tested?
Select ADC test switch to TEST 1 or TEST 2.
When will the Beta Warning Horn be activated? When is the Horn disabled?
Raising either Flight Idle Gate Release Trigger. Horn is disabled at Rad Alt. below 20ft or Weight on Wheels.
